עֲצֵבוּת, עֲצֵיבוּתf. (preced. wds.) grief, sorrow. Ber.31a אין … לא מתוך ע׳וכ׳ you must not rise for prayer in a mood of grief or in languor … but in religious joy. Pes.117a אין השכינה … מתוך ע׳וכ׳ the Divine Presence (holy inspiration) does not rest upon man in moments of languor or sadness Ḥag.5b אין עצי׳ לפניוכ׳ there is no sadness before the Lord, for it is written (1 Chr. 16:27) ; Yalk.
